The other three components are as follows |
-
Black & White or preferably Colour Laser printer/copier
-
GBC-brand "pouch" laminator
-
Hot Air Gun (Heat gun)
These components are not included in the starter
kit because of the possibility you might already have one or
more of these items to hand.

2. Laser Printer.
It is not strictly necessary to own a laser
printer, but you will need access to a laser copier which as
a minimum will print black & white images, naturally
a colour printer is much better.
If you own a laser printer then that's great,
but if you don't you could check to see if a friend has one.
Failing that you could use one of the many copier services
on the high street. Simply print your file on your inkjet
printer and take it along for copying with your TTS paper. |
3. The GBC branded laminator.
These laminators are not your standard run-of-the-mill "pouch
laminator". They
are different because of the way the heat is transferred to the
rollers. Most laminators don't actually heat the rollers
in the first place, and those that do, don't do it very well.
It is imperative that a GBC
laminator is used for this process. All other brands
will not give satisfactory results.
In the UK there are only two model
that are suitable for DecalPro®. Even though there
are two models, the best one for the job is
the cheaper model, so
I am only going to recommend the one model.
The
HGB HeatSeal H65 A4 Laminator. |
|
The Laminator can be purchased from
reputable Shops and good online stationers. They are also
available on eBay frequently!
|
 |
4. Decorators Heat Gun.
The last item you
will need is a conventional "hot
air gun" normally used by the DIY enthusiast for paint stripping
etc. As such they are available from all of the major DIY
stores and some high street shops. This item is not as
critical in brand as the laminator, but please look for a model
that has at least a 1200 watt heating element.
There is no need to purchase a big brand name,
any generic heater with the minimum heating element specification
should be fine. And don't think a standard hair drier will
manage the task - it won't! |
Other smaller items that you will need to use the product are:
• Rubbing Alcohol: Available at any drug
or hardware store
• Water Tray: Must be as large or larger
than the largest graphic you will be making
• Paper Towel
• Sharp modelling knife
• Straight-edge ruler
• Paper cutter
