Saving TTS Paper

Saving TTS Paper.

When you only have a few designs that need producing you don't have to waste a full sheet of paper in the copier every time.  Follow these simple instructions to get the best economy out of the decal paper.

1.

Print the artwork onto standard paper

Prepare your artwork with the rectangle border as per the instructions. When setting out the artwork on screen you should position the images 30 - 40mm down  from the top of the printable area.  The reason for this will become apparent later.

Once you have your design ready you should print it onto ordinary print paper.

When printed, you should handle the paper carefully taking care not to cause creases or warps particularly on or near the leading edge.

2.

Cut a section of TTS paper.

Cut a length of TTS paper slightly longer than the artwork. Trim the sides of the TTS sheet so that it is slightly narrower than the A4 paper sheet.  Any overlap will cause the print to slip or a paper jam.

When you are happy with the sizing of the TTS sheet you should secure it on the leading edge with a strip of heat proof sticky tape. It only needs to overlap the TTS 3mm.  Cut any excess tape away from the edges!

You can see now why the image is positioned further down the sheet.  Some printers will require more exposed paper at the top to prevent the paper feeding system slipping on the sticky tape.  Just move the artwork further down the print area and it will be fine.

3.

Print the artwork again.

Put the paper back into your printer so that it will print onto the TTS paper.  Refer to your Printers manual to determine how you should do this.

Seen opposite the artwork has been printed on the TTS sheet and is ready for processing.

4.

Remove the TTS sheet

With a scalpel remove the TTS sheet from the paper.  Don't throw the paper away just yet as it has another use.

Trim around your artwork ready for the laminator. You must ensure that all the tape is cut away from the paper you are going to use so that it does not melt in the laminator!

5.

Use the paper print as application sheets.

The paper prints can be used to make application frames.  Cut around the artwork within the border frame with a sharp scalpel.

Now when you add the KK2000 spray to your mylar you can gently place the open frame over the image with confidence knowing it fits!

Using the artwork cut to the application frame also reduces the risk of transferring excess adhesive to the surface known as ghosting (see instructions).
